Bishop, Hontiveros Unveil Memorial Marker For Kian In Front Of San Roque Cathedral

In a move that defied logic and elicited mixed reactions from the public, Bishop Pablo David, with the presence of Sen. Risa Hontiveros recently unveiled a marker to commemorate the death of Kian Delos Santos.

A Victim They Said

In a video posted by ABS-CBN on their official Facebook page, a memorial marker was unveiled in remembrance for the death of Kian Delos Santos, a 17-year-old drug pusher who has met his untimely demise at the hands of the police during a buy-bust operation.

Critics of Pres. Duterte’s drug war insists that Kian was a victim of EJK, and he represents all the victims of the administration’s war on drugs and criminality.

Hontiveros Rides On

Senator Risa Hontiveros, a known critic of Pres. Duterte, and who recently proposed to declare the death anniversary of Kian a special holiday was also present in the unveiling of the marker.

She said that the marker is a reminder that the government should be accountable for the casualties of the war on drugs.

Her critics, however, asked her if she also remembers the fate of the fallen 44 and if she plans to build a marker for them too.

(Un)Reliable Source

ABS-CBN is a known critic of the administration and has been criticized several times for their biased presentation of news to favor their political interests.

While it is understandable that religious groups condemn the casualties of the war against drugs, it is really unfortunate that politics, in their attempt to push their interests, politicized and sensationalize the murder of a known addict and drug pusher, making him look more innocent than he really is.

Naturally, people are baffled as to why this is being done for Kian. What did he ever do to for the country? Or for the church, for that matter. In all honesty, we don’t even know what really happened to him in the first place.
